Exploring the emotional geography of belonging
“Rather than searching for a fixed definition of home, these works explore how environments accumulate within us — as color, atmosphere, and emotional temperature.”
Olya Dubatova

Olya Dubatova is a Russian-American multidisciplinary artist based between New York and Mexico City. Her practice explores the relationship between place, memory, and identity, examining how the environments we inhabit become part of our internal landscapes.

Moving between abstraction, ornament, and structure, Dubatova creates works that reflect the emotional textures of living across geographies. Color, atmosphere, and spatial relationships become a language through which she investigates belonging, transformation, and the shifting idea of home.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Scuderie Aldobrandini Museum in Italy, Riddoch Gallery in Australia, and The Bookstore Foundation in Amsterdam.

Dubatova is also the co-founder and former director of BlenderLabs at the University of Southern California, where she developed interdisciplinary projects connecting art, technology, and research. Her collaborations with institutions including UC Berkeley, Stanford, USC, UCLA, and the Internet Archive have received international recognition.
