"The only thing I appreciate more than Bruno's art is his humanity"
Diego Rivera
Bruno Berthier (b. 1987) is a visual artist and sociologist from Mexico City. His paintings focus on the exploration of the limits between abstract and figurative representations. With the use of oil impasto and pastel strokes, Bruno delineates a variety of highly colorful characters and landscapes on canvas and wood. Exercising a singular expressionist style, he finds influence in varied pictorial movements such as those of the Cobra group in Northern Europe and the Nabis in France, as well as in the second generation of the Mexican School of Painting represented by Ricardo Martinez and Rufino Tamayo. He is an active member of the independent artistic collective El Quinto Piso, a community of Mexican painters intertwined by expressionist art, and is also in charge of the project “Pintando Futuros", a social initiative that seeks to give children a voice in the development of public policies that help build a culture of peace, care for the environment and inclusion through artistic expression.
